Have you ever wondered how much a hip replacement costs or how hospitals make sure they have everything they need to deliver patient services? How do we use our enormous purchasing power to the best effect while ensuring quality services round the clock?
If you’re intrigued by the challenges that face the NHS and how procurement departments play their part in delivering patient care then a career in NHS finance might be for you.
The NHS is huge and complex and offers great opportunities for a career in procurement. These days the emphasis is on being a business partner to our clinical colleagues and if this appeals to you, you may want to start the career ball rolling by applying for a one year undergraduate placement in NHS procurement.
The scheme is open for year 2 university students who are studying relevant degrees such as business for example. Placements start in summer 2021 and finish the following summer. During your year in the NHS you will be offered plenty of opportunities to put theory into practice and attend development events.
After graduation, many placement students come back to the NHS or apply for our highly regarded Graduate Scheme.
